I love taking pictures of objects as if they were a character in a play. And I also love staging people in the same kind of carefully built colourful worlds.

Before I start searching for the right colours, shapes and lighting, I first write the story in which, to me, they will live their best lives.

Objects of Desire

Objects of desire is a series dedicated to objects in the Surreal mouvement, the current that turned them into proper subjects.

Each scenery is a tribute to an emblematic object depicted by an iconic painter of the mouvement.

It is an attempt to seize what stroke me in these works of art and a declaration of love to everyday life props that I’ve always been keen on transcending.

Apollo & Aphrodite

I have always enjoyed staging objects as actors. Here, I wanted them to play in a scene that evokes the fleeting nature of beauty and, by extension, the passage of time.

The statue of Apollo seems to be observing a rose that has fallen to the ground. Its reflection, like a vanitas, forebodes its impending withering.

This rose, with its vibrant magenta colour, is also that of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Everything is bound to end.

Violette Volynka

Violet and leather are a bold combination as scents, so are orange and purple as colours. I also wanted to pay a tribute to leather craftsmanship, which is the speciality of Hermès.

Full Metal Watch

This watch used to be my father’s, in the late 1990s. It was a period of a somewhat show-off optimism, especially for him. When I turned 30, he gave it to me. With this picture, I wanted to give back its utterly confident and manly feeling while playing with the different colours and textures of gold and steel.

Ceci n’est pas un bijou.

In a kind of surrealistic way, I’ve always been keen on diverting objects from their original use. I here chose to photograph hardware as jewels, emphasizing their brightness and their sophisticated finish.

Vanitas vanitatum.

Vanitas vanitatum. (Vanity of vanities), inspired by vanitas painting and the imagery of tarot game, deals with the transition from life to death. Composed as a short visual fairy tale, it evokes the fugacity of beauty and the ineluctable and tragic aspect of ageing.

This project is also a technical exploration of what could be called « motion photography ». Indeed, the smooth succession of the photographs breathes motion into them, which aims to create an intriguing mix between still and motion picture.

Vanitas vanitatum. is the result of the collaboration of three artists : Nora Hegedüs, Samuel Lefilleul and Vincent Brunet-Moret.

It’s a shark life!

A small reef shark is roaming in the shallow and clear waters of a tropical sea. Desperatly searching for food among the kelp, it doesn’t notice that it is caught by the lense of a discreet diver.
